Shine’s Session

Traditional irish session Banjo player jams at Shine's Bar, AthloneIt was a dirty evening. The wind was howling round the place, shreiking at the corners of the windows. How to escape the cacophany of nature? Nothing for it but a melodious remedy. A quick pair of phonecalls and hardy, Big D and myself were whisking out the Tuam road to Shine’s Bar for the Sunday session.

The usual trio was attending, though the night was sparsely attended. The winds could have knocked a body to the ground and managed to rattle the roof timbers above the session (there’s construction going on above Shine’s bar). Nevertheless, a few rounds of music and it was forgotten.

Perhaps the inclimate weather inspired the players, as evidenced by this lively number that popped out at the end of the night.

Boo-yah, that’s some quick pickin!
