Brideswell Session

Brideswell session with guitar and bouzouki playing a duet

Another fortnight come and gone and I found myself in Brideswell ordering Guinness at the counter of O’Connell’s Pub. Shifting anxiously in the air around my head were the sounds of uilleann pipes, guitars, flute and a bouzouki fidgeting themselves into musical readiness.

This week our damsel duck provided transport for the bean, angel and myself. We arrived to find musicians and instruments strewn about the back room, anxious to get the tunes going. The last session had been a particularly good one and I had been asked to burn a CD if I could, so I brought a few copies in for the lads and passed one behind the bar for good measure.

Damsel duck is getting herself back into the music scene in a big way and was urged repeatedly to give the room a sampling of her talent. She eventually graced us with a couple of tunes, like this a piece she performed with the bean that I particularly liked. Last night’s session was attended by the core group, our three selves, ze germanz on bass, the milo man on guitar and a bodhrán player transplanted to the midlands from Texas. As an extra bonus, here is another mp3 from the evening, led in by the bouzouki.
