Beannachtaí na Cásca – Happy Easter!

celtic crossHappy Easter, everyone! Yes, the roaming hoardes of tourists and foreign nationals wandering in befuddlement on Good Friday looking for ANY place that would serve them a drink will now be shocked at the number of Irish celebrants literally spilling out of the pubs today.

Easter is, just as it is in the states, a big family day of celebration. Folks get dressed up, go to mass and then meet for chats and a few drinks either at their local or someone’s house . . . or both!

In old Ireland it was a day for white-washing the house, dances and celebration, but a lot of those traditions have gone the way of thatched houses.

In any case, Christ is Risen, we’re all saved, the sun is shining and the pubs are open.

Beannachtaí na Cásca, folks!
