Terry Wogan receives lifetime achievement award

Terry Wogan, the Limerick-born TV and radio announcer received an award from Limerick last week for his achievements in journalism. He’s known over here mostly for his sarcastic commentary on the Eurovision song contest.

Having got his start in Ireland, Terry did like the Irish soccer players and moved to where the audience and salary were more becoming of a man of his abilities. Posessing both British and Irish citizen ships, Terry can actually be called “Sir” Terry (unlike our Bono) after being knighted by the queen in 2005.

Personally though, I think it was his interview with Max Headroom in the 1980s that made him a legend.
