Sean’s Sunday Session

table with musical instruments at Sean's Bar, AthloneWell the weather outside was frightful, so this past Sunday afternoon the wifey and I headed down to Sean’s Bar for a hot port and some pineapple juice for the munchkin.

It’s rare since the munchkin’s arrival that we find the opportunity to head out together. It was a good afternoon to be inside near a roaring fire with live music and our spirits were high. We arrived on the tail end of Amber Moon’s morning session and were lucky enough to join them for some boisterous singing.

I was even persuaded to attempt backing wifey on Crazy, which I don’t know how to play, but wifey gave it a rousing treatment with a little help from angel at the end, much appreciated by those seated around us, so it’s all good.

Soon afterwards and with some urging from yours truly, the big M sang The Brothers Mallone, a fantastic song about Athlone written by a local man.

I’m always glad to see the weather in Ireland turn towards winter, because it means afternoon sessions like these become more frequent.
