Drinking in the streets?
I was just listening to the radio and, apparently, Tullamore has decided to rescind the ban on public drinking for their Phoenix Festival this weekend.
Hmm – should be an interesting social experiment. I can recall some excellent, inebriated outdoor activities back home – the Castro Halloween party in San Francisco with cans of beer being sold by enterprising locals from ice-water-filled trash cans on the street comes to mind . . . that is, of course, banned now.
In any case, the Phoenix Festival is quite an affair, featuring a load of local art, theatre and workshops in addition to live music, children’s activities and the more exotic entertainments like bungee jumping and sky diving. I wonder at what altitude the public drinking laws would normally cease to apply?
