Shack Session

It was an unusual Shack session this week.
It all started some time after nine when ze germanz rang to see was anyone coming out to the Shack. A few minutes later it was he and I settling in on our lonesome, discussing the rainy weather with the proprietor and speculating about the chances of more [...]

The Shack Session

This Tuesday was my first Shack session in about a month. I think I had bowed out from exhaustion a month ago. Then wifey was sick and then i was stateside for two weeks.
Again, it’s nice to return and find some things waiting for your return. The bean and I made an early foray out [...]

The Shack Session

There are so few constants in life. The Shack Session has been going strong every week for the last three years, isn’t it good to have something like that?
In any case, it was a small session with just hardy, the sherrif, des, the fingerpicker, myself and a very late pads (where’s me lion bar, eh?) [...]

Excuse me - Robert Sarazin Blake (those cursed tabloids!).
You’ll remember my recent post on Robert Blake’s Bog Lane show, but Mr Blake is 2/3 of the way through his Irish tour at this point and conducted a very well-received show at the Shack Pub in Athlone this past Saturday.
I managed to get some video of [...]

Another Tuesday night, another Shack experience.
This Tuesday I headed out a bit late owing to a certain munchkin being up waaaay past her bedtime. In any case, when I arrived the sheriff and des were holding court. The fingerpicker and ze germanz arrived soon after and our company was made complete with the bean and [...]

This past Tuesday was the Shack session.
Folks, I have to say this feckin cold is really starting to annoy me. You’d think I’d be missing more sessions, wouldn’t you? In any case, what with the bean up bobbing on the waves and ze germanz contemplating paternal matters, it was myself, des, the sherrif, hardy and [...]

The Shack Session

If I thought I was coming down with something on Monday, Tuesday confirmed it.
I had no less than three phone calls during the day about the Shack Session that night. Supposedly, three folks from out of town had heard about our humble gathering and intended to stick the head in and were looking forward to [...]

Shack Lunch

Just look at that there.
Don’t you wish you were sitting right there, about to tuck into that gorgeous, steaming platter of roast chicken, rosemary stuffing, steamed veg and half mash and chips with a frosty, beautiful pint of stout standing proudly behind it, sweating chilled beads of condensation?
Oh lord, it hurts just to describe it.

If ever there was a week when the Shack was needed, this was it.
It’s been a long week, folks. I retired to the cosy environs of our beloved Shack a bit early on Tuesday with the bodhran and baby guitar. It wasn’t long before the sheriff, ze germanz, CB and even hardy stuck the head [...]

The Shack Session

This past Tuesday’s Shack session was a good one. VE, ze germanz, the bean, angel, pads, the Sherrif and myself were up to our usual shenanigans.
I think this week I’ll just let the music do the talking. Here’s Bean with a great version of Tracks of my Tears and the end-of-the-night pub-stopper by angel, here.
