It's still called a "pint"
In a move that will prevent a lot of tongue-tied stuttering at Irish pubs around the country, the European Commission decided on September 11 to allow traders in Ireland and the UK to continue using pint measures for milk, draught beer and cider as well as miles on road signs.
For those who are scratching their heads over this you should know that there is a UK movement called the “metric martys” who steadfastly refused to use the metric system in their business dealings.

United Ireland by 2027? What are the odds?
Ten to one by the year 2027, according to Paddy Power.
Yes, one of the many cultural twists that still befuddles me is the legality and casual practice of gambling in Ireland. There are gambling shops everywhere in this country and, apparently, one can simply walk into one of these places and bet on . . . well, anything.
Case in point is latest bet on offer: a United Ireland. Think about it - people have fought, died and argued for the cause . . . why not try betting?

Irelandlogue has a birthday
![]()
Hard to believe, but it’s been a year since I started writing the ‘logue.
847 posts later I have to say I can’t believe I’ve been doing this 2-5 times every day for 12 months. It’s been a lot of work juggling family, job, logue and music, but tremendously rewarding at the same time.
It feels good to know I have it in me to produce a shiteload of drivel under pressure, er, I mean loads of quality content within a specified deadline. *grin* When I started this, I was writing absolutely nothing. Now I can say I’ve compiled a serious body of work concerning Ireland and travel to this wonderful place that I call home.
And that feels good.
