Shack Session

Shack Session in Athlone picturing bongs, banjo, guitar and bass So last night was the Shack session and it was a good one.

It being a warm night, I opted to walk and arrived before anyone else. After chatting for a while with the publicans, I was joined by the Sherrif and we made our way over to our usual spot. Next in the door was the Bean, Angel and Pads. The Bean warned me,

“There might be a special guest tonight.”

The next musicians in came thick and quick, ze germanz, bongos, a few singers, and a local fingerpicker joined the circle. We played a few tunes, when in walked Barry Walls.

Barry is a gifted writer/performed who played the 2005 songwriter showcase. In honour of his appearance, this week’s mp3 is of Barry playing his own song, All Those Winters, which, it must be said, he played only after repeated requests for it from wifey - who considers it one of her favourite songs, even though it makes her cry.

It’s great to see the auld Shack session so well attended, I have to say I really look forward to Tuesday nights lately.
